Couple Celebrates 69th Wedding Anniversary
Earlier this week, Premier Michael Dunkley visited with Cedric and Cornelia Tweed, who celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on 6th September.
Premier Dunkley presented 89-year-old Mr. Tweed and 87-year-old Mrs. Tweed with an arrangement of flowers for the occasion.
The Premier said, “It was a pleasure to spend time with this truly golden couple who are wonderful together and who have been blessed with such a long and happy union.”
The Tweeds are parents of nine children [two of whom - Deborah and Kelly - are pictured below] and have several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Tweed is a retired Colour Sergeant in the Bermuda Regiment, having also served in the Bermuda Militia Artillery [BMA]. He was honoured with the Queen’s Certificate and Badge of Honour in 2007 for his 52 years of military service.
I remember Mr. Tweed from years ago.
My Father served with him.
Great man and family man.
Happy days to him and his wife Cornelia.
Respect.
“With age comes wisdom.”
“The smartest man in the world is not the man who knows a lot but the man who knows where he can find it out.”
“Happiness is not what you take out of life it is what you put in.”
“A Woman does not arrive at her true beauty till the age of 50.”
Mr. and Mrs. Tweed you are one and you are with out doubt very lucky couple.
Colour Sergeant Tweed .
I along Etherley and Johnson two of the company clowns served with you in the Bermuda Regiment.
I remember that you issued me with a 303 rifle # 13,which was not particularly accurate.
I slept with that thing, it was sure heavy and made allot of noise, I am sure it could strike terror in the heart of the enemy I am sure it could shoot round corners.
My P.O.W. 500 lb weight lift initiation into the Corporals Mess was to gruesome to record here, did they ever replaces the ketchup.
For those of you young men who are too afraid to sign up, you are missing out on the experience of a lifetime, where you will learn the true meaning of self worth.
Congratulations Cedric and Cornelia !
