Male Teacher Charged With Fifteen Offences
[Updated] Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Sept 25], a male teacher faced over a dozen charges related to intruding on the privacy of young people, as well as allegations of touching them for sexual purposes.
He faced a total of 15 various counts, with five alleging intruding on the privacy of a young person and as well as ten charges alleging he touched them for sexual purposes.
The charges were alleged to have involved three separate young people, and span a period going back to September 2012. As the charges can only be heard in the Supreme Court, he did not have to enter a plea.
The defendant, who is a guest worker, cannot be legally named at this stage of the proceedings.
Senior Magistrate Archie Warner set bail at $25,000 with a surety, ordered he must wear an electronic monitoring device, abide by a curfew restricting him to his home, must surrender all travel documents and report to Hamilton Police Station once a week.
Update 4.42pm: The Department of Education said, “Alleged incidents were brought to the attention of The Department of Education prompting immediate action in accordance with internal protocols.
“The Department has been advised of an on-going investigation by the Bermuda Police Service, relating to the arrest of an employee. A man has appeared in court facing serious charges.
“Education officials have confirmed that the individual in question has been placed on administrative leave and that they are cooperating fully with the investigation.
“The Department remains committed to the welfare and safety of all children and staff in our schools.”

I think they would have said if it was a guest worker…
What you trying to imlply mate? It could have been anybody boss. Guest worker, local etc. I’m just glad they were caught. Your comment breeds deviseiveness!
I hope that for EVERY CHILD who experiences sexual violation receives counseling so that they can move on to survive the experience. My hope also is that the community rises up against ALL FORMS OF ABUSE ON CHILDREN!!! (Sigh)
