ICC Cricket League: Bermuda Beat Malaysia
Bermuda picked up their first win of the World Cricket League Division 3 Tournament taking place in Malaysia.
Taking on the host in their third game, Bermuda lost the toss and was sent to bat, they scored 257/8 in their allotted 50 overs, Christian Burgess was yet again the top scorer with 82 from 88 balls, Burgess hit 10 fours and 1 six.
Lionel Cann added 51 from 70 balls that included 4 fours and 1 six, Malachi Jones had a strike rate of 316.66 after scoring 19 runs from 6 balls hitting 3 fours and 1 six, while Allan Douglas had a strike rate of 307.14 after scoring 43 from 14 balls, Douglas hit 1 four and 6 sixes. With figures of 10-2-41-2 saw Suharril Shuib led the Malaysia bowling attack.
In reply Malaysia were 172/6 when rain stopped play, they resumed with Malaysia reaching 179/7 in 43 overs before rain halted play, Malaysia was chasing a revised total of 217 resulting in Bermuda winning the match on the Duckworth-Lewis Method. Captain Ahmed Faiz Noor was their top scorer with 87, while Anwar Arudin added 45. Dion Stovell was the pic of the Bermuda bowlers returning figures of 9-0-29-3.
Captain Janeiro Tucker was thrilled with the side’s first win saying, “We’ve been working on assessing the wickets to get ourselves into the position we got into today, and today we executed our plans. Now we’re looking for a win tomorrow to put pressure on the other teams.”

Hiccups early, but they went back to the same formula for a win. Build partnership, conserve wickets and assault the bowlers in the later overs. Well done Christian, Lionel, Allan and Malachi for their respective batting roles.
