Rugby League: Police, Mariners, Teachers Win
The Bermuda Rugby Football Union’s League Season continued at the National Sports Center this weekend with double headers in both the Men’s and Ladies Divisions.
Ladies Division
Police defeated the Renegades 4 – 1, Police got tries from LaReine Prinsloo, Isabel Van Der Westhuizen, Mika Tomita and Erica McArthur, while Laura Holdsworth scored the lone try for the Renegades.
The Mariners next defeated the Teachers 3 – 0, Deneka Borden scored 2 tries, while Caroline Aberhart added the other for the Mariners.
Men’s Division
The Police got a try from Corbus Vermaak, a conversion and a penalty from Mike Kane as they defeated the Renegades 10 – 7. Jahan Cedenio scored a try for the Renegades, while Paul Kelly kicked the conversion.
The Teachers defeated the Mariners 19 – 12, David Poter, Richard Boyd and Peter Otin all scored a try each for the Teachers, while Andre Landy and Shauntino Simons both kicked a conversion. David Rourke and Chakote Wainwright each scored a try for the Mariners, while Keith Hodgkins kicked a conversion.
