Weekend Rugby League Action Results

In women’s touch league action, the opening match saw Police come back from 2 – 0 down to defeat the Teachers 3 – 2. Teachers went ahead through tries from Jo Thivierge and Sherice Bashir before Jo Godfrey, Mika Tomita and Sam Payne scored tries for the Police.

In the second game to the day, the Mariners defeated the Renegades 2 – 0 with tries from Alexis Rawson and Becky Garley.

In Heineken Men’s League action, Teachers defeated Police 24 – 5 in the Men’s Opening match. The Teachers got two tries from David McHugh and on from Andre Landy, Shauntino Simons kicked three conversions, while Landy added a penalty. The lone Police try came when Ryan Murray went over.

The second game was a blowout as the Renegades defeated the Mariners 61 – 7. Greg Garside and John Quigley scored two tries each to lead the Renegades to victory while Paul Dobinson, Jahan Cedanio, Rich Cumbers, Brian Archibold and Bernard Opuku all went over for a try each. Brian Archibold kicked eight Renegades conversions.

The Mariners got a try from Kamel Easton and a conversion from Rory Dublin.
