Bermuda Institute Launch ‘Stuff The Bus’ Initiative
[Updated with locations] The Bermuda Institute Student Association has joined forces with the Department of Public Transportation in an effort to make a difference in our community over this holiday season.
The initiative is designed to collect non-perishable goods and toys that will be distributed to selected charities and will take place from December 6th to December 9th, from 6pm – 8pm.
The Department of Public Transportation has donated buses to collect the donations from various locations around the island and some bus operators have agreed to donate their time to drive the buses on those nights.
The Bermuda Institute students will be on hand to sing carols and interact with those who donate at the collection locations.
Minister of Tourism Development and Transport, Shawn Crockwell was at the launch and said, “To the PTB team and operators, the students, faculty, parents and friends who are all participating in this project, you are to be commended.
“This initiative truly is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in our community – to help those less fortunate during the holiday season by providing much needed non-perishable goods.
“We are all keenly aware that there are many families that are experiencing difficult economic times; they are struggling and would be very appreciative of assistance in any form.
“This project is an opportunity for the community to contribute and assist families who are in need and I encourage everyone to please contribute what you can to this initiative.”
Stuff the Bus Locations:
- Saturday, December 6, at Town Square for 1 hour and move to the causeway for another hour
- Sunday, December 7, at the Aquarium parking lot
- Monday, December 8, at the parking lot at Lindo’s in Warwick
- Tuesday, December 9, at the old Hitching Post in Somerset

- The Lions’ Club
- Teen Services
- Big Brothers & Big Sisters
- Coalition for the Protection of Children
- Salvation Army
- Sunshine League
- Hands of Love

Good afternoon everyone and thank you for coming. It is indeed a treat for me to be here as this is my beloved Alma Mater. I am pleased to see some of my former teachers are here today.
It is my pleasure to announce a new community service project called ‘Stuff the Bus’.
The Bermuda Institute Student Association has joined forces with the Department of Public Transportation in an effort to make a difference in our community over this holiday season.
