Photos: Saturday Farmers Market Gets Underway
The Farmers’ Market at the Botanical Gardens got underway on Saturday [Dec 6] and has been received well by its patrons organisers said.
Products available at the market included fresh produce, plants, baked goods, jewelry, hand bags, Bermuda gombey dolls, knitted and crocheted items, soaps, candles and lots more.
A spokesperson said, “The hosting of the Market in these relaxing surroundings is a welcomed change for both vendors and patrons alike. Clients can leisurely stroll the gardens and parents enjoy the inherent safety as their children enjoy the park. The official opening of the Farmers’ Market was Saturday, December 13th.
“Patrons have discovered that the entrance on South Shore Road serves them well, as they can park very close to the J.J. Outerbridge building, where the Market is held. The Market is open each Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. December 13, 20th and resumes in the New Year on January 10th.
“Participating vendors at the The Bermuda Farmers’ Market must comply with the “homegrown or homemade” rule. This means that products sold at the Market are made or grown by locals!
“Vendors at the market sell farm produce [organic and conventional], plants, baked goods, jewelry, hand bags, Bermuda gombey dolls, knitted and crocheted items, soaps, candles, hand crafted children’s toys, hair pieces, fish chowder / fish cakes, vegan chocolate, sprouts, teas etc.”
