Mussenden To Chair FIFA Electoral Committee
Bermudian Larry Mussenden, chairman of the FIFA Appeal Committee, has been agreed on as the new chairman of the Ad-hoc Electoral Committee.
The news came as the Committee formally declared four candidates as eligible for election to the office of FIFA President, which is set to take place on May 29, 2015. The declaration followed the completion of an “integrity check” on each candidate.
A report on the official FIFA website says, “Larry Mussenden [Bermuda], chairman of the Appeal Committee, remains with the Ad-hoc Electoral Committee and was agreed on as the new chairman of the committee by the Ad-hoc Electoral Committee.
“In its new composition, the committee will continue to supervise the electoral process to ensure the correct application of the FIFA Statutes, regulations and provisions.
The Ad-hoc Electoral Committee will also supervise the administrative process relating to the actual election at the FIFA Congress in Zurich on 29 May 2015 – the election day.”
Mr. Mussenden made international news last year in his position as chairman of the FIFA Appeals Committee when he suspended the transfer ban levied against Barcelona.
