19 Year Old Pleads Guilty: Cannabis Possession

February 24, 2015

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Feb 24], a 19 year old male admitted possessing cannabis and a digital scale.

Kyle Tucker pleaded guilty to possessing 15.38 grams of cannabis and a digital scale fitted for use with the illegal substance; with both acts occurring in November 2014.

According to Prosecutor Nicole Smith, police had noticed two men on a bike trying to make a hurried get-away from their marked police car.

When accosted by police, Mr Tucker told police: “I have some weed in my pocket,” and a police search also turned up the digital scale.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo set sentencing for April and ordered a Social inquiry Report, and Mr Tucker was granted bail of $3,000 and required to provide a surety.

Separately, Mr Tucker faced an old charge of failing to stop at a stop sign in June 2014. Accepting his guilty plea, the Magistrate fined him $100 and, because he already had 19 Demerit points, disqualified him from driving all vehicles for six months.
