Island’s Newest Travel Agency To Officially Open

March 6, 2015

Bermuda’s newest travel agency will mark its official opening with an official ‘ribbon cutting’ ceremony this coming Monday.

Located in Washington Mall, on the upper level just a short and easy walk from the Bus Terminal and City Hall Car Park, TRIP Bermuda is open Mondays through Fridays, from 9.00 am through 5.00 pm, and offers customers the services of dedicated and experienced travel advisors.

The agency is actually two-and-a-half years old, but had been functioning as a low-key operation until late last year. Now there are six full-time agents in the new office space.

“TRIP – as in “take a trip” – offers its clients service in various languages: English, Portuguese, and Tagalog in an effort to make the travel booking experience seamless,” a spokesperson said. “The new travel agency is fully Bermuda-owned, a unique feature, and is entirely independent of overseas domination.

“The agency had been a dream of founder Lois Wilson, who untimely passed away a year ago. Now it is her immediate family who carry the torch, and through their efforts the agency has now moved from strength to strength.

“The staff at TRIP have one basic philosophy – “to do the best for our customers, period”. The agency caters to those looking for low-cost vacations, as well as to mid-range and high-end clientele. Through their world-wide connections they can arrange customized tours and services in virtually any country in the world.”

The company has provided a total of four new jobs, and the staff at TRIP have differing levels of experience – some are just completing extensive training, while others can boast of many, many years in the travel business, and the company said with “team concept any customer can be assured of the best possible service.”

Brave, a new travel agency. What next? – latest video recorders….

I believe there is something called the internet, you’ll find it more efficient and cheaper. Unless you are 75 and going on a cruise.

There is still a niche. Personally I hate going online and trying to book things, especially when you are trying to use air miles, making multiple stops along the way etc. You have to be a brave, persistent and patient person to deal with all but the completely uncomplicated travel plans online.

That’s not to say I use a travel agency. My wife is brave, persistent and patient. :) But without her I’d be looking to call someone. I’d probably call these guys given their quoted philosophy.

I wish them all the best.

All the best to you and your family Al in these economic times you are very brave but there is still a great need here in Bermuda. Wishing you well…Pat

    Alvin,

You are a great man with passion. I am certain that Trip will live up to its promises. Please ensure that you choose your team members with care and train them to the same high standards that you live by. Try to have someone on standby 24/7. It is so nice to get a live body on the phone when things turn south while abroad. The internet usually fails in that regard.

I say, long live travel agents. Let’s try to support them as much as we can.
