Car Fire Extinguished On Hermitage Road

The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service extinguished a car fire on Hermitage Road at around noon today [Mar 11], with the BFRS saying the driver of the vehicle not at the scene when firefighters arrived.

The BFRS said, “At approximately 12:00pm today, Wednesday, March 11th, 2015, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of a white Volkswagon car on fire on Hermitage Road, Smith’s.

Fire Service spokesperson Sergeant Russann Francis said, “The vehicle was reported to have visible smoke and flames emitting from the engine compartment. The Fire Service responded to the incident with a team of 4 firefighters to find the fire contained to the engine compartment.

“The driver of the vehicle was not found to be at the scene on our arrival. No one appeared to be hurt as a result of this incident. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.”

    Where did the driver go? Did they return? Sounds suspicious.

    The driver of the vehicle was actually there. She had a water truck close behind her that used his whole water load to control the fire until the fire service arrived.
