Cyclist Dominique Mayho To Race In California
Bermudian cyclist Dominique Mayho is beginning his racing with his team Ride with Rendall this afternoon [Mar 27] at the San Dimas Stage Race in California.
For the last two and a half weeks he has been at a training camp with his teammates in Encinitas, California, training more than 25 hours each week, frequently riding over 100 miles a day.
San Dimas Stage Race is comprised of three stages over three days, beginning with a 4.25 mile mountain time trial up Glendora Mountain Road in the Angeles National Forest.
Day two is an hilly 84 mile road race and then concludes on Sunday with a 90 minute criterium in downtown San Dimas.
Joining Mayho will be teammates Conor O’Brian, Jordan Cheyne and Trinidadian Gevan Samuel.Also in the field of 164 men will be Efran Ortega of Puerto Rico, the 2014 Caribbean Time Trial Champion.
Mayho’s role in his team will be a supporting one, helping Cheyne, the top climber in the group, for a strong position in the standings.
Locally the road racing season picks up steam with a criterium race this Sunday morning [Mar 29]. Organised by Bicycle Works and racing around the Ace and XL buildings in Hamilton, the action gets underway at 7:30AM with the youngest participants and builds to the A category riders starting at 10:15AM.
