Duffy Places Third At World Cup In Abu Dhabi
[Updated] Bermuda’s Flora Duffy continues to excel on the world stage, this time racing to a third place finish among a world class field at the International Triathlon Union’s World Cup Series in Abu Dhabi today [Mar 7], with the race commentator calling Bermuda a ”tiny island that seems to produce outstanding triathletes.”
Bermuda Triathon reports that, “Flora’s performance was a real breakthrough as she made the podium for the first time in the World Cup Series, the highest level of the sport.

“Duffy visibly tired on the 2nd lap of the run and was just beaten into 2nd place by the USA’s Lisa Tavares finishing in 59 minutes and 23 secs, overall it was a brilliant performance by Flora who was visibly delighted when interviewed at the race end, saying that it was a big day for both her and Bermuda.
“Flora got tremendous accolades for her performance and Bermuda, the ‘tiny island that seems to produce outstanding triathletes, was also mentioned numerous times. The Bermuda flag was raised during the medal ceremony.”
Update: After the race Duffy tweeted a few photos and said, “Unbelievable day. Rode that bike course with all I had. So thrilled to finish 3rd.”

Wow – that is simply outstanding! Well done Flora for putting yourself and Bermuda on the map. There cannot possibly be a more intensive sport to train for than a triathlon. So very impressive!
