Daylight Savings: Time To Move Forward 1 Hour

March 7, 2015

It’s time for Bermuda to “spring forward” once again, with Daylight Savings Time set to kick in on Sunday [Mar 8] at 2.00am, requiring everyone to remember to set their clocks ahead an hour before heading to bed on Saturday night.

And the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service has reminded residents to take the opportunity to check the batteries on their smoke alarms as well.

Daylight saving time is the practice of advancing clocks so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less.

Typically, clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in autumn. Time will fall back to standard time again on Sunday, November 1, 2015, when daylight saving time ends.

Why do we need this ****? Can’t we like some other parts of the world and just leave it alone?

“Why do we need this” .
      Because the UBP did it.

      I need a rum.

It was convenient for those to have extra time on the golf course and pleasure crafts on the water.

And now it’s for public employees taking their 14 weeks “sick leave” a year, paid for by the rest of us.

This really makes little difference to Bermuda,it’s just another waste of time.

For the record,I never alter my wristwatch and I’m always on time, which is more than can be said for many!

It does save on the electric bill espacially for street lights,as in the US the extra two months saves about 60 million barrels of oil.

    • Family Man says:

umm umm I don’t know how you figured that street light thing out but I really think there are the same number of hours of darkness whether you have daylight savings or not. It’s just a time shift.

Oh, and the US doesn’t really use oil for electricity generation. It’s coal, natural gas, nuclear, hydro and other.

Time is time. Makes no difference. For those of us fortunate to own our own homes, or at least share ownership with the banks, & have stuff like painting, yard work & other outdoor work to do, the extra daylight after the normal working day is nice to have to get the chores done, so that perhaps weekends can be enjoyed doing leasure stuff.
