Coral Beach To Host Open Singles Challenge
The Coral Beach & Tennis Club is set to host the brand new BLTA Open Singles Challenge, an elite local tennis tournament that gets underway next week.
The tournament is open to the public and will be sanctioned by the BLTA. It will also serves as mandatory qualification to Bermuda’s 2015 National Team for the Davis Cup and Fed Cup squads. All of Bermuda’s locally based national players are expected to participate.
The tournament starts on Wednesday, April 8th and runs until Saturday April 11th. On April 8th, 9th & 10th matches will take place between 5:30pm & 9:30pm. The finals will be held on Saturday, April 11th, with the ladies singles final starting at 1pm and the men’s finals at 3pm.
The Coral Beach & Tennis Club will provide catering during the tournament. Hot food and delicious snacks will be complimentary for all the players and their fans. And during the Saturday afternoon finals the Club will serve spectators strawberries and cream and afternoon tea.
Apex Physio will be on hand providing physiotherapy and sports performance services for any of the players who may have aches and pains.
All of Bermuda’s tennis fans are encouraged to come out and support the players as they vie for this exciting new title and for a berth on the national team.
Printed tournament entry forms can be picked up at the BLTA office or at the Coral Beach & Tennis Club’s front desk. The deadline for registration is April 6th at 5pm.

“After speaking with the new BLTA executives, we recognized that our national team players need to participate in high level competitions before they are selected to represent the country in international competitions. This new tournament will help to prepare the squads for their Davis Cup and Fed Cup campaigns and in turn help to raise the level of tennis played in Bermuda.
“The Club has recently begun hosting the national team on Sunday’s and Tuesday evenings in preparation for their international campaigns. We look forward to working closely with the new BLTA executive board to further develop tennis on the island.”
