Roger Dill & Melvin Best To Umpire In Panama
The Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] confirmed that it has secured opportunities for two local umpires to officiate at an international cricket event later this month.
Roger Dill and Melvin Best will be traveling to Panama to umpire in the 5th Central American Cricket Championships from March 19th to March 22nd. This is a T20 tournament featuring seven Central and South American teams and a team from the MCC.
Lloyd Fray, President of the BCB, said, “I am grateful that the work of our Executive Director, Neil Speight, has enabled the BCB to make available to the BCUA the opportunity for two of its umpires to gain international experience.
“Chances to officiate at the international level are very difficult to garner and we have an enviable track record of our very own BCUA members being successful in ICC events. I expect that Roger and Melvin will make Bermuda proud on and off the field. I hope that this provides further inspiration for up and coming umpires to continue to invest their time and efforts into our great sport.”
The BCUA spokesman noted, “We the BCUA and the BCB are pleased to work together again to send two umpires to participate in the 5th Central American Cricket Championships. Mr. Melvin Best is one of our up and coming umpires and Roger Dill is one of our senior umpires. This opportunity will provide Mr. Best with the exposure to work alongside Mr. Dill in this tournament and further enhance his umpiring skills.”
Congratulations are due to both of you, Mr. Roger Dill and Mr. Melvin Best. To have secured a position to umpire in the 5th Central American Cricket Championships which will be from March 19th to March 22nd. in Panama S.A. is quite an accomplishment!
