BHCS To Sponsor Sir Stanley Burgess Run/Walk
Bermuda HealthCare Services announced that they will be sponsoring the 2015 Sir Stanley Burgess 5K Run/Walk. Organized by Swan’s Racing Club and sanctioned by the Bermuda National Athletics Association.
The Sir Stanley Burgess 5K Run/Walk is held each year in honor of sporting legend and Bermuda Day Marathon repeat winner “Sir” Stanley Burgess.
Bermuda HealthCare Services founder and Executive Chairman Dr. Ewart F. Brown remarked, “As a youngster in Flatts, I watched Mr. Burgess train by walking up the hills around Flatts with food scraps for his pigs hanging from a piece of wood….he was a rare character.”
Andre Rochester, Vice President of Swan’s Running Club, said that the Club was excited that Bermuda HealthCare Services had come on board to sponsor the Sir Stanley Burgess 5K Run/Walk.
“Swan’s Running Club is grateful to Dr. Ewart Brown who did not hesitate to agree to sponsor the race after we approached him, “ said Mr. Rochester. “Sir Stanley Burgess was an icon in road racing in Bermuda and I think it’s fitting for the race to sponsored by a Bermudian who so many people look up to and admire.”
