Clarien Donates 300 Saplings For Earth Day
Three hundred native and endemic Bermuda Cedar, Palmetto, Olive Wood, Yellowood and Bay Grape saplings were donated in today’s [Apr 22] Clarien Bank Earth Day sapling donation to the community.
The saplings were offered on a first come, first served basis from 11.00am to 2.00pm. Full advice was provided to customers and residents on how to safely plant and care for the trees and plants.
The community sapling event will be followed on Friday, April 24 by plantings of saplings at Gilbert Institute and Somerset Primary to help make their campuses green again.
A spokesperson said, “Today’s event continues the bank’s reforestation efforts which began with a sapling giveaway to clients and residents in October 2014 following the impact of Hurricanes Gonzalo and Fay.”
“Since then, Clarien’s reforestation efforts have continued with donations of saplings to WindReach Bermuda with additional donations and plantings scheduled this Friday at Gilbert Institute and Somerset Primary.”
