Video: Students Cedar Plant Tree For Earth Day

April 22, 2015

Earlier today [April 22] students from Victor Scott Primary School joined Premier Michael Dunkley, Health, Seniors and Environment Minister Jeanne Atherden and Education Minister Wayne Scott in planting a Bermuda Cedar Tree in commemoration of Earth Day.

Today’s tree planting took place at the Arboretum, which was one of the parks hardest hit last year during hurricanes Fay and Gonzalo.

Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, and events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now recognised in more than 192 countries each year.

Today’s tree planting is in keeping with the Department of Parks’ reforestation project, which has seen the repopulating of endemic trees around the Island.
