Easter Tournament: Youth Footballers In Action
Footy Promotions hosted their Easter “Futsal in the City” youth tournament on Saturday April 4th, at the Mount Saint Agnes Gymnasium.
The tournament saw 12 teams participate within three age groups. Players were able to come with friends and play on the same team or come individually and choose their team on arrival.
The first age group was for 8 – 11 year-old players. The teams that participated were Team Madrid, J4K Young Boys, PHC, Select One and Select Two. The teams played in a group stage with the top two teams advancing to the finals. In the finals, JFK Young Boys beat Select One 3-0 to be crowned the “Futsal In the City” U11 Champions.
The second age group was for 11 – 13 year old players. The teams that participated were Legends Blue, Colts, Team Kyjuan, FF Thirteen, J4K Young Boys. The teams played in a group stage with the top two teams advancing to the finals. In the finals, FF Thirteen beat JFK Young Boys 2-0 to be crowned the “Futsal in the City” U13 Champions.
The third age group was for 14 -16 year old players. The teams that participated were Allstars and FF United. The teams played a best out of a three game series. This series was very close and filled with action. However, FF United beat the Allstars with 2 close wins and a drawer to be crowned the “Futsal in the City” U16 Champions.
Eurique Wilkin, Technical Director of Footy Force Futsal said, “It was a great and positive atmosphere and was good to see a solid turnout from friends and family of the players. The individual skill and one-two plays were a joy to watch. The 5 minute games created a recipe for fast attacking play which kept all watching on the edge of their seats.
“The goal keepers played a big part in the excitement of the tournament as they pulled off saves you didn’t think was possible time and time again.
