Premier Dunkley Extends Easter Holiday Wishes

April 2, 2015

Premier Michael Dunkley and Mrs. Dunkley visited the Matilda Smith and Sylvia Richardson rest homes to extend Good Friday and Easter best wishes, presenting the care takers and residents at each home fresh bouquets of Easter Lilies on the occasion.

The Premier  said, “As we approach Good Friday and Easter Sunday, I am delighted to extend best wishes to all of Bermuda.‎ Ours is an Island built on a strong foundation of lasting traditions.

“And Good Friday is an occasion when we celebrate our special heritage and participate in a uniquely Bermudian tradition. It’s a day where we enjoy family and friends, fly our homemade Bermuda kites and indulge in eating delicious fish cakes and hot cross buns.

“It’s also an occasion when we reflect on the meaning of Good Friday and Easter. These two days are considered important occasions on the Christian calendar,” Premier Dunkley said.

“I am reminded of the verse from Luke 24:2-3: “And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.”

“This significant time chronicles the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It also highlights the life of Jesus, whose mission was to not only teach us about God the Father and how we should live, but also to make a way for us to be forgiven.

“So as we celebrate this weekend, I encourage you to embrace one another and be ever mindful of the genuine message of Good Friday and Easter Sunday – the message of sacrifice, unconditional love and the hope and the promise of eternal life.

  1. LaVerne Furbert says:

Nice to see Mrs. Dunkley supporting her husband. I always wondered what she looked like, and now I know.

    • Franklin jr says:

why does it matter what she looks like?

      • Hurricane says:

@Franklin jr., take your boxing gloves off. It’s not a question of whether it matters or not, the lady was just saying that she always wondered what she looked like and now she knows.

Stop trying to make trouble ! :-(

        • Franklin jr says:

Why would Ms Furbert take the time to post such an inconsequential thought? Could there be a more subtle point, especially considering this island’s history with the phrase “look like”?

    Happy Easter to all.
    God bless.

  3. Ace girl says:

LaVerne are you throwing some ‘shade’? To be honest I don’t know what Mrs Bean looks like, but it really doesn’t matter as neither of these two women are running the country.

    • Mockingjay says:

Neither was Mrs. Brown but she was a house hold name for some media

    • LaVerne Furbert says:

Michelle Obama isn’t running America, but everybody knows what she looks like.

      • jt says:

What exactly is your point LaVerne? Do you have one?

    • Will says:

      ….and neither is mr. dunkley

    • @ Ace Girl, This is were you ate completely ignorant, the better part of Mr. Dunkley and Mr Bean comes from the depth of the heart and soul of both these men’s wives,If you knew the sacrifices and the agony that go along with being the premier and the opostion leader of this country, you would clearly understand how much input their wives truly have when it comes to the affairs of this country and the decision they both have to make. Also Miss Laverne Furbert is not alone because many of us did not know what Mrs Dunkley look like, and it is good to see the real strength of the family. A pleasant Good Friday and a Happy Resurrection Easter to all, please don’t forget that tomorrow April 4th is a Blood moon and for all Christians this is extremely important as I do believe there has never in His story (history) has there ever been a Blood moon smack in the middle of Good Friday and Easter,God has a awesome plan when it came to planning every detail in history, (His Story).

  4. Christopher Notoriouss (C James) says:

I’m sure that LV’s comment was innocent and that she meant no ill will. I don’t know what LV’s husband looks like either or indeed if she even has one. I could not care less.
