July 21, 2015

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [July 21], an 18-year-old male pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply in an increased penalty zone — a high school.

Devonshire resident Cavin Francis pleaded guilty to being in an increased penalty zone and possessing 8.66 grams of cannabis that was intended for supply, as well as possessing a digital scale and plastic bags, all on December 10, 2014.

The Crown Prosecutor told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that staff at the high school detected the odour of cannabis on Mr. Francis. Police were called and took Mr. Francis into custody.

The Magistrate ordered a social inquiry report, set September 9 as the date for sentencing, and granted Mr. Francis $3,000 bail with one surety in a like amount.
