Flora Duffy Wins Bronze Medal At Pan Am Games
Racing among a field of world class athletes, Bermuda’s Flora Duffy has captured the bronze medal in the triathlon at the Pan Am Games today [July 11] in Canada.
Barbara Riveros of Chile won gold in a time of 1:57:18, Paola Diaz of Mexico won silver in a time of 1:57:48 to earn silver, and while Ms. Duffy won bronze in a time of 1:57:56.
The Pan American Games are the world’s third largest international sporting festival — surpassed only by the Olympics and the Asian Games — and Bermuda’s athletes are joining approximately 7,000 others from 41 nations at the Toronto Games.
Bermuda has competed in all Pan Am summer Games since 1967, taking home a total of 8 medals — which is now up to 9, courtesy of Ms Duffy’s medal winning performance today.
This is yet another accolade the two-time Olympian has earned, with Ms Duffy having a bevy of international wins including the XTERRA World Championship in 2014, and dominating the XTERRA circuit recently, winning titles in Utah, South Africa, Nevada, Australia and Alabama.
