Nahki Wells Scores Twice For Huddersfield Town

July 25, 2015

Bermuda’s Nahki Wells scored twice in today’s [July 25] pre-season match against Rochdale, which saw Huddersfield Town being defeated 4-3.

“It was Butterfield once again who slipped a ball down the left for Wells and the Bermudian’s deep cross was perfect for Scannell to run onto and fire past Lillis into the top corner,” the Club’s match report said.

“The amazing rate of goals showed no signs of slowing up when the second-half started as Wells grabbed his second for the Terriers just three minutes after the restart.

“After Lynch dispossessed Alessandra, a ball into the left channel released Nahki into space; he entered the edge of the penalty area, cut the ball back onto his favoured right foot and fired the ball low between Lillis and the near post.”

After the match, Huddersfield Manager Chris Powell said, “It may be pre-season, but nobody should think that winning games doesn’t matter because it does to me. There may be no points at stake, but there soon will be and we must have that mentality.

“We had a poor start and although Nahki got us back in it, they then scored again. It is those moments that we have spoken about; when you have had a bad period and come under pressure, only to get yourself back in it. You need to take advantage of that.”
