Weather: America’s Cup Cancelled Today In UK
Due to “extreme weather” in Portsmouth, England today’s [July 26] America’s Cup racing has been cancelled.
A statement from the organisers said, “After discussions with the America’s Cup organising committee due to extreme weather we have had to take the difficult decision to cancel today’s racing and Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series event programme, and the site has been closed for the day.

“We had hoped to go ahead with early racing, but with winds gusting in excess of 30mph we could not risk the safety of the crews and public, and their welfare is paramount.
“Due to high winds the Waterfront Festival Arena and Fanzone Arena is now closed, and we ask public to leave the event site.”
Provisional results as per yesterdays racing:
The Solent is no place to mess with. Winds & currents are a bad mix & turn the whole area into a confused washing machine.
Have done the Portsmouth/Ryde, Isle of Wight ferry many times, at the time a boat a little larger than the Bermudian. Also ridden a type of vessel called a sidewall hovercraft. Exciting seas in the Solent on both of them.
Take heed off the signs.
What a difference a day makes!
I thought these were state of the art flying hydro vessels. Oh well, back to my puzzle.
Same thing happened in San Francisco.
So which day will it be rescheduled to or is that it for Portsmouth?
welp.
