Hurricane Weakens, Now A Tropical Depression

August 24, 2015

Danny — which was the first hurricane of the 2015 Atlantic season — has weakened and has been downgraded to tropical depression, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said today [Aug 24].

“Reports from an Air Force Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that the maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 35 mph [55 km/h] with higher gusts,” the NHC said. “Further weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Danny is expected to degenerate into a remnant low later today.”
