September 16, 2015

Coach Tommy BrownWolfpack Hoops announced that Coach Tommy Brown — Head Coach at Division 2 Lee University in Chattanooga, Tennessee — will be in Bermuda from September 24th to the 26th in order to hold a skills clinic with local basketball players while also recruiting for potential scholarship athletes.

Coach Brown, a native of Chattanooga Tennessee and former head coach and Athletic Director at Bluefield College, has spent eleven seasons as head coach of the Lee men’s basketball program.

During his time as Head Coach, Brown has compiled a 234-90 record and has an overall mark of 369-191 in his 18-year coaching career.

Brown was named a finalist for the Don Meyer National Coach of the Year Award for his success during the 2012-2013 season.

The 2007-2008 season was also noteworthy for Brown and the Lee Flames. The team finished with a record of 33-2, won the SSAC regular season and the tournament championships, and made it to the Elite Eight of the NAIA National Tournament.

Brown received recognition for his success by being named SSAC Coach of the Year and the Victory Sports NAIA Division I Coach of the Year.

Coach Brown is a graduate of Boyd-Buchanan High School. He was a stand-out on the Covenant College basketball team for two years. After his playing career, Brown paid his dues in the coaching ranks, serving as high school coach for four years and as an assistant coach at the college level before becoming a head coach.

During his seven years at Bluefield College, Brown directed the Rams to the Division II National Tournament on four different occasions, and was three-time winner of Coach of the Year honors in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Charles Peters, Director of Wolfpack Hoops stated that there is a good chance that a Bermudian player will be recruited by Coach Brown.

“This marks yet another first for Bermuda and our Elite Player Development Programme as we have been able to present outstanding opportunities directly to Bermuda’s basketball community,” Mr Peters said.

“Coach Brown is coming to Bermuda specifically to recruit players for his University and I know that we have a few players here who are ready for the opportunity. Many of our players have now had a full year working with us on their skills and the time has come for us to showcase our young athletes to coaches from the US.

“This is only the beginning as we have other college coaches scheduled to visit Bermuda this year to recruit both the boys and girls from schools in the United States and Canada.”

Wolfpack Elite is a basketball Player Development programme that focuses on individual player and skill development. If you would like to learn more about the programme please contact Coach Peters at charles@wolfpackhoops.com.
