Bermuda’s Neal Towlson Is ITA Scholar-Athlete
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association [ITA] recently announced that 2015 Wingate University graduate Neal Towlson has been named as an ITA Scholar-Athlete award winner following his success on both the tennis courts and academic arena.
Wingate University said, ”In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must be a varsity winner that has a GPA of at least 3.50 in the current academic year. The student-athlete also must have been enrolled at the school for at least two semesters.”
“Towlson played 14 matches as Wingate’s number one singles player during his final season. He picked up five victories, with four wins coming in conference play.
“Towlson also collected eight victories at number one singles for the Bulldogs. He capped his career by picking wins at number one singles and number one doubles in Wingate’s NCAA Tournament match against No. 41 GRU Augusta.
“Wingate went 15-6 overall in the 2015 season, with a 15-4 mark against NCAA Division II opponents. The Bulldogs went 10-1 in the SAC, winning their fifth regular season conference title in seven years.”
Head coach Michael Cabana said, “I am happy for Neal to finish off his career as an ITA Scholar-Athlete.”
