Football: Dudley Eve Group B Tie Break Decision
The Bermuda Football Association Executive Council have reached a resolution regarding the tie break of The Dudley Eve Group B teams.
The BFA said, “This resolution will see the Competitions Committee host a draw of lots at 12.45 p.m. on Friday, October 2nd, 2015 at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence.
“On Monday, September 28th, the club representatives of Devonshire Recreation Club , Robin Hood Football Club and the Western Stars Sports Club [Dandy Town] met and shared useful discussion.
“After the valued deliberation, the Executive Council determined that the decision to proceed with the drawing of lots is in the best interest of the competition.”
Unfortunate way to settle the deadlock, but at least the three teams involved agree to the decision.
Maybe in future the BFA can put forward some good alternatives.
Why cant they use the pemalty system.
One nite all 3 teams take penalties against each other which would be a more reasonable way rather than lots of straws.
This way (penalties) all teams would be geared up and know what can happen if they loose.
In all fairness this seems more like a much better way to solve this fiasco.
IF we had better Ref’s, this 3 way draw wouldn’t have happened…
Easy solution
First team drawn wins the group
The other two teams play to see who comes second.
Fair to all teams.
Seems logical given FIFA rules shown below. Where the BFA have dropped the ball is by not making this clear in the tournament’s rules beforehand.
•Greatest number of points obtained in all the group matches.
•Goal difference in the group matches.
•Greatest number of goals scored in the group matches.
•Head to head result
•Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned.
•Greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned.
•Drawing of lots by the FIFA Organizing Committee.
