Prior to the annual Labour Day March, which left from BIU Headquarters at around 11.30am, Bermuda’s trade union leaders presented Labour Day greetings to the assembled audience, and we will have videos of that later on, and in the meantime you can view all our coverage of Labour Day here.

The video shows a few hundred people out of how many thousands of union members? A telling picture that speeches and bravado cannot hide. It would appear that the members are seeing through the rhetoric and the pictures of the high ups enjoying the banquet at the Southampton Princess while pretending to show concern for the workers and unemployed. Interesting that the BIU are highlighting 1981 in their speech. One thing is certain is there won’t be a repeat of 1981 because the BIU has no money to pay strikers, so the Union has no money or teeth to follow through with any threats of General Strikes. A denial to the workers of their rights.
