BSRA To Host RUBiS Divisional Tournament

October 19, 2015

The Bermuda Squash Racquets Association will running the 2015 RUBiS Divisional Tournament this coming week from October 20th to 23rd.

This is the 8th straight year that RUBiS has sponsored the event that will see over 85 participants take part in five divisions [A, B, C, D and E] over four days of competition. A junior boys and girls draw also features in this event.

Assistant Director, Runa Reta, commented: “The RUBiS tournament is one of our most popular events of the season, as it really caters to players of all levels, from the advanced player right through to the beginner.

“We are very grateful for the support that RUBiS gives us to run this event each year, as it not only helps to keep our sport thriving in the community, but it also helps to motivate and inspire our young players to get more involved in the competitive side of squash.”

“The junior boys and girls draws will see current national team members Dylan Pratt, Charlie Riker, Taylor Carrick, Charlotte Toogood and Abigail Brewer, among others, competing for the top spot. Prizes include one-year memberships for the winners of both the Boys and Girls categories, courtesy of RUBiS.

“On the other side of the spectrum, competition in the ‘A’ category is expected to be quite fierce, with recent returners to the island Kristian Muldoon, Jason Shrubb and 2014 Commonwealth Games participant Robbie Maycock all competing to try and overthrow the number one seeded Kristen Johnson.

“Matches will begin at 6.00pm each day, with the finals of each division taking place on Friday October 23rd starting at 6.30pm.
