Man Admits Stealing Eggs, Beer & Peanut Butter
Appearing in Magistrates Court today [Oct 30], a 62-year-old man admitted trespassing in a Paget home and stealing Vienna sausages, beer, peanut butter, and eggs that had a value of approximately $59.00.
Mr Winton Edwards pleaded guilty trespassing in a house in Paget on 10th and 14th September and stealing Vienna sausages, beer, peanut butter, and eggs to a total value of $59; and of prowling about the same residence on 28th October 2015.
The Court heard that on October 28th, the homeowner was at home when he heard someone prowling about his house.
The homeowner called police, and with the help of neighbours, Mr Edwards was located nearby. To police, Mr Edwards admitted prowling and the earlier break-ins.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo asked Mr Edwards, who has been before the Court in the past, to explain his actions and Mr Edwards replied: “I have had a real rough time. I am a tradesman, I can’t find work.”
The Magistrate ordered Social Inquiry and BARC reports, set sentencing for December, and granted bail at $3,000 but required a surety.
