October’s 2015 Klout Social Media Rankings
[Written by Don Burgess]
The Bermuda Tourism Authority’s marketing efforts on social media have helped make it a juggernaut.
The BTA’s Klout score rose 14 points from 67 to 81, placing it second on the Bermuda list for October. It also places it amongst the elite of social influencers.
And it matters in its marketing efforts. A Social Times article reported that a Klout score of 80 or more, will give a tweet half life 315 times longer than an average tweet.
A score between 40 and 70 minutes produces a tweet half life of five minutes while one above 80 will last five hours and 15 minutes.
Glenn Jones, Director of Public & Stakeholder Relations for the BTA, told Bernews: “The BTA has stepped up its daily engagement and conversations through it’s social channels and it looks like that is showing in the Klout score.
“More organic listening and authentic engagements, a more local and conversational tone and a more proactive approach to contributing to themed twitter chats have all likely contributed to the increase.”
PowerGirl Trina also had a significant rise — eight points — in her Klout score as she has started using Periscope, Twitter’s livestream video. PowerGirl almost cracked the top 10 this month.
FOX and WWE commentator remains number 1 with a score of 85, with the Bermuda Tourism Authority taking over the number two slot, pushing singers Collie Buddz and Heather Nova to number three. Yours truly, rounds out the top 5.
Joining the list for the very first time were Bermunchies, Velina Wheatley-King and Alastair Jack.

Klout attempts to quantify a person or business social media influence through a variety of platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, among others. The scores run from one to 100 with 40 being average. A Klout score above 63 is in the top 5% of all users.
