During the trial the jury heard from a number of witnesses, the bus driver operating the bus where the incident started, Mr Mungal’s friend who was with him when the altercation took place, as well as from the defendant herself.
The Court heard that Mr Mungal and a friend were on the bus — as was the defendant and her child — and words were exchanged with the defendant asking the teen to stop using profanity. The defendant and her child got off the bus, as did Mr Mungal and his friend at the following bus stop.
An altercation then occurred outside the defendant’s home, with the defendant striking the teenager with a wooden baseball bat, hitting him in his arm and his head, with the blow to the head causing fatal injuries.
