“Reinvent Yourself After 50″ Seminar To Be Held
Age Concern will be holding a seminar on Thursday, January 21 entitled “Reinvent Yourself After 50,” which promises to “help people over the age of 50 with their career and life decisions.”
The seminar, taking place at 10.00am at the Bermuda College, will include Bermuda Executive Services [BES] offering a presentation regarding changes in the employment market for people aged 50 or above.
Bill Zuill, one of the directors of BES, said, “People aged 50 or older in Bermuda have seen dramatic changes in the workplace since they first started working, and for some, they have found themselves looking for a job a or a career change for the first time in their lives.
“This is the generation which started with typewriters and telexes and are now using iPads and smart phones to do their work.
“Thursday’s talk will deal with some of the misconceptions about this generation and will also give practical advice on how they should go about looking for jobs if they have found themselves out of work.
“The good news is that unemployment in this age group has dropped from about nine percent to about four percent since 2014, but that does not make it easier for those who are looking for work.
“We are looking forward to an open discussion about employment and opportunities.”
