BUEI And Gilbert & Sullivan To Present “Othello”
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute [BUEI] and Gilbert & Sullivan are getting set to present Met Opera on screen in Bermuda on January 23, with a showing of Verdi’s “Othello.”
The show will get underway at 5.00pm at the Tradewinds Theatre; tickets cost $35 for adults and $30 for students.
The event poster says, “Verdi’s masterful Otello, inspired by Shakespeare’s play and matching it in tragic intensity. Director Bartlett Sher probes the Moor’s dramatic downfall with an outstanding cast: tenor.
“Aleksandrs Antonenko plays the doomed Otello; new soprano star Sonya Yoncheva sings Desdemona, Otello’s innocent wife and victim; and baritone Zeljko LueiC plays the evil Iago, who masterminds Otello’s demise. Dynamic maestro Yannick Nezet-Seguin conducts. In Italian with English subtitles.”
Complimentary canapes will be offering during the interval and cash bar will be available. Tickets can be purchased at BUEI’s gift shop by calling 294-0204, online at ptix.bm, or at the door on the night.
