Registration Open For Bermuda Triple Challenge

January 29, 2016

Registration for the Bermuda Triple Challenge is now open to Bermuda and the world, inviting participants to run, jump, climb and crawl in the name of charity to determine who’s the fittest, beginning on March 18.

A spokesperson said, “Targeting international participation for the second year, The Bermuda Triple Challenge team welcomes four guest professional Obstacle Course Racing athletes.

“The return of Reebok Spartan Race Pro athlete Matt Novakovich and in his company fellow Spartan athletes, Juliana Sproles the 2011 female World’s Toughest Mudder champion, Brakken Kraker a 30 time winner of North American OCRs and Val Smith, Director of Events for United States Obstacle Course Racing.”

Dr. Reid Robinson, Co-Race Director, said, “We were blown away by the charitable funds the participants raised in 2015, over $55,000, and that inspired us to add more obstacles and invite Spartan Race’s Anthony Carson to emcee all three events this year.

“Participation has grown approximately 30% year over year and it’s inspiring to watch all sorts of people challenge themselves to a fun, healthy and exciting event, unique even for obstacle course races.”

“The Bermuda Triple Challenge’s unique scoring system incentivizes all participants to raise funds for the Bermuda Triple Challenge charitable partners, which are; The Reading Clinic, Knowledge Quest, Raleigh Bermuda, Somerset Primary PTA, The Sunshine League, and SCARS.

“Teams will navigate the courses on their way to record a finishing time, but can supplement their physical prowess with their fund raising power. Every dollar raised will aid competitors and boost their points total as teams compete for a $1,000 cash prize.”

Co-Race Director, Jason Correia, said, “New for 2016 is the Elite Individual division, plus a division for America’s Cup teams to compete against one another. The Elite Individual division was created to encourage international interest and also give those looking for a pure race experience just that.

“We are also extremely excited for 2016 as we have been awarded Obstacle Course Racing World Championship qualifying status. The top three male and female Elite Individuals will be eligible to compete in the World Championships.”

“The Bermuda Triple Challenge would not be possible without the tremendous support from the community and our returning gold sponsors: KRyS Global, Chubb, The Argus Group and the Bermuda Tourism Authority.”

The Bermuda Triple Challenge begins at 7.00pm on Friday, March 18 with the Argus Urban Foot Race through the old town of St. George’s, followed by a community block-party with a DJ, bouncy castle, and Bermuda’s bucking-bull on hand.

The Bermuda Regiment will host the KRyS Global Island Challenge on the morning of March 19, followed by a family style post BBQ event thanks to Butterfield & Vallis.

March 20′s closing will see participants compete at the Royal Naval Dockyard in the Chubb Royal Challenge, followed by the Buzz/Butterfield & Vallis participant appreciation brunch.
