Court: 47-Year-Old Man Admits Stealing Steak
Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Feb 10], 47-year-old Antoine Raynor plead guilty to stealing four packets of rib-eye steak worth $50 from Arnold’s Pembroke Market, on 9th February 2016. Raynor was remanded into custody until 26th February.
The Crown Prosecutor told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that shop staff had seen Raynor enter the store. Recognizing him from past incidents, staff kept a close watch on him. They observed him take four packets of steak and put them inside his clothing. They saw him get two cigars and pay for the cigars and then leave the store.
Outside, shop staff accosted Raynor. In the course of dealing with him, the packets of steak fell out of his clothing, and were recovered by shop staff. Police were called and Raynor was subsequently arrested, questioned, and charged.
Reviewing Department of Public Prosaecution records, the Crown Prosecutor told the Magistrate that Raynor had failed to appear in Court in December 2015, to be sentenced on another matter, and was at this time still under a Probation Order. Separately, the Magistrate’s Court records showed that Raynor had unpaid fines totalling $1,250 which had been levied in October 2015.
The Magistrate ordered a Social Inquiry Report, remanded Raynor into custody, and ordered him to re-appear for Mention on 26th February.
