Journalist To Speak On Syrian & Iraqi Refugees
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute’s BUEI Talks series will continue on Thursday, February 25 with award-winning Canadian journalist and filmmaker Tara Sutton speaking about her experience with Syrian and Iraqi refugees.
The event flyer said, “Award-winning Canadian journalist and filmmaker Tara Sutton has been covering conflict and the displaced for over 15 years.
“She has worked in Iraq, Afghanistan, Darfur, Colombia, Cuba, Jordan, Pakistan, Syria, Liberia and all over the USA, telling the stories of ordinary people caught up in extraordinary events. Her films and reports have appeared on BBC Newsnight, the CBC, Channel 4, Discovery and Al Jazeera.”
“Join us for an evening of stories from the frontline of the world’s worst refugee crisis. Award-winning international film maker and journalist Tara Sutton will take us beyond the headlines by sharing her experiences working with Syrian and Iraqi refugees in Amman, Jordan as part of the Collateral Repair Project.
“Tara will also screen two films she made in August, intimate portraits of families who allowed her inside their lives last summer.”
The presentation will talk place on Thursday, February 25 at 7.30pm, with a Sushi Happy Hour to be held at Harbourfront from 5.00pm to 6.30pm and dinner opening at 6.00pm.
