Entertainers Showcase To Feature Local Talent
Some of the island’s top entertainers will take the stage at the Fairmont Southampton Mid-Ocean Amphitheatre on May 7 for the Bermuda Entertainers Showcase.
The talent lineup will include Twanée Butterfield, Wanda Ray-Willis, the Big Chill and Lady Tyson, along with many others, with the Wall Street Band, under the direction of Robert Edwards, to accompany the various artists.
A spokesperson said, “A little over a month ago a group, under the auspices of “Communications Plus”, outlined to the department of Tourism an ambitious plan to stage an event which would highlight the array of entertainers and musicians in Bermuda who are ready to work in a professional environment to assist in making the Bermuda Experience very special.”
Producer and project manager Rick Richardson said, “We are pleased to note that with the support of the BTA and the Hotel Industry we are set to embark on an unprecedented Entertainers Showcase which will make Bermuda proud.”
“The May 7th event at the Fairmont Southampton Mid-Ocean Amphitheatre will feature at least ten of the island’s outstanding entertainers.
“Special invitations will be distributed to members of the Bermuda Hotel Association who will have the opportunity to scout local talent and potentially hire them for future work opportunities.”
Pat Phillip-Fairn, Chief Product and Experiences Development officer at the BTA, said, “We hope the Bermuda Entertainers Showcase will serve as one method of bridging the gap between the performers and the people who have the potential to hire them.”
“One thing is clear, our visitors want high quality local talent when they come to Bermuda. One of the strategies of the BTA is to support local showcases of this kind.”
Cleveland ‘Simmons of Communications Plus – who conceived the original idea of a smaller showcase at Government House – said, “The Bermuda Entertainers Showcase emerged from the Community Walk and Talk, which involved the Governor George Fergusson, myself and other community and civic leaders.
“I am thankful for the Governor’s encouragement and support for developing and showcasing Bermudian entertainers.”
Gina Spence, said, “Our charity is pleased to be partnering with Communications Plus to produce Bermuda’s first showcase of its kind involving Bermudian entertainers here and abroad.
“We look forward to showcasing former GSP cast members as they give back through this showcase and fund raising effort.”
“An impressive lineup of Bermuda talent including American based entertainers, Twanée Butterfield, Wanda Ray-Willis, and Lady Tyson, will take to the stage in the amphitheater of the Fairmont Southampton hotel.
“The full line-up includes: Mitchel “Live Wire” Trott, The Simons Brothers, Roy Richardson, Valerie Sherwood, Kion Simmons, Big Chill with Tony Brannon, Kassie Caines, and Limbo dancer Markita Joel. The Wall Street Band, under the direction of Robert Edwards will accompany the various artists. The event will be streamed live by Mediaville.”

What a biased line up of entertainment…a lot of Bermudas best aren’t involved with this and furthermore did they offer oppurtunity to those with talent who are not yet discovered?
