30 Minute Video: ZBM Evening News Program

April 6, 2016

[Updated] After being temporarily knocked off air due to a lightning strike, the Bermuda Broadcasting Company’s 7.00pm local newscast was back on TV screens last night, and tonight the company is testing their first live online broadcast.

While they were making the needed repairs to their TV equipment, the BBC posted their newscasts on Youtube, and Bernews also carried their news, and the company plans to continue posting their evening news online; and tonight the company is testing a live online stream of their programming, which you can watch below.

BBC Chief Operating Officer Patrick Singleton said, “We are thrilled to be working together with Bernews and Channel 82, in the spirit of collaboration, to expand the way we are bringing our news to the community.”

Update: The newscast has ended – the live stream went quite well — and the full replay is below.

The volume is all out of whack

    • Raymond Ray says:

But it worked…I for one, living overseas had / do, (like many others I’m sure) had certainly appreciated viewing Bermuda News via Bernew.com
Keep it on air for all interested in Bermuda whether it’s progressing or regressing…Please keep it on the air

  2. Lois Frederick says:

In a couple of news clips tonight the video went to a digital mess with no audio for around 10 seconds on both clips. Overall the picture is much improved. Even my wife noticed it! Just hope they can fix the sound quality on 89FM, which has a very annoying sizzling sound, which was happening intermittently even before the lightning event. I suppose the lighting strike was a blessing in disguise for them.

  3. JohnBoy says:

    They’ve always had volume issues.

  4. Boo says:

    • PBanks says:

It was horrible when watching on regular TV. Volume control maxed out and the sound was just above a whisper. Maybe online the sound is better.

  5. Jumbo says:

Volume sounded fine. But the picture quality looks so much better than before. Keep up the good work Bernews & ZBM.

  6. Yes please says:

This is excellent. I watched this on my iPhone and the sound and picture quality was great. Please continue with this cause it’s a great way to still be able to watch the ZBM news, especially if you missed the broadcast either or altogether or partially. Keep it up!

  7. Navin Pooty Tang Johnson says:

the picture is much better but the volume is cranked up and switching to a different channel cam shatter ear drums……for years we have had crappy pictures and now crappy sound….hopefully they will get it right….

  8. sure. says:

Awesome! Great initiative for those overseas who would like to stay current with the local activities

  9. Hmm says:

First live online news broadcast … Hmm, odd. During my university tenure when I lived in the US, I watched their live newscast streamed from a link on their website daily for more than a year. I never knew why they stopped streaming but it most certainly is about time they got back in line with technology. Some 4K cameras and a decent set of graphics for green screen and they should start looking like a proper news set. With the now old 4G LTE finally set to launch in Bermuda, viewers can stream the news anywhere right on their cell phones.

kudos to Channel 82 for helping ZBM improve their picture quality. Diane looks 100% better. I can actually watch the evening news without cringing.
