Students Rewarded in #LoveMyBermuda Contest
As we approach Bermuda Day 2016, three local students are being rewarded for articulating their love for Bermuda in the Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] #LoveMyBermuda video contest. The contest used social media as a platform for students to share what they love about Bermuda based on their own activities and experiences.
Students filmed their videos during a BTA schools tour earlier this year when several local middle and high schools were visited to promote the contest. The students described what they love specifically about Bermuda and the videos were subsequently posted to social media using #LoveMyBermuda.
The winners, randomly drawn out of a collection of entries, are: Marcus Pimentel a student at Mount St. Agnes; and Jashe Butler and Deja Edwards, both from Berkeley Institute.
“Our goal is to provide opportunities for people of all ages to share their favourite things about Bermuda,” said BTA COO Karla Lacey. “The #LoveMyBermuda campaign challenges each of us to remember why we can take pride in living on this Island, and lets us promote the areas, events and experiences we love both to audiences here at home and abroad.”
BTA industry partners generously donated prizes for the winning entries. Marcus, Jashe and Deja are being rewarded with experiences from Blue Sky Flights, Coconut Rockets and Hartley’s Helmet Diving respectively. Their entries are also being featured in a local television campaign in recognition of Tourism Appreciation events held worldwide throughout the month of May.
