Bermuda Cycling Academy Crit Race Results
The Bermuda Cycling Academy Criterium took place at Southside with 101 riders taking to the start line that ended in some thrilling finishes.
Anthony Bartley won the Adult A Division race holding off a very strong challenge from Matthew Oliviera. Bartley clocked 42:44.169, with Oliviera stopping the clock in 42:44.855 and Dave McComas finishing third in 42:45.039.
The Adult B Division title was won by Rajul Matthie-Shakir who finished ahead of Revelin Minihane and Sean Dickinson. Matthie-Shakir stopped the clock in 36:59.774, Minihane clocked 37:00.918 and Dickinson recorded a time of 37:01.362.
Paulo Medeiros’ time of 25:00.503 saw him win the Adult C Division, Gareth Fleming was second in 25:00.650 and Connor White finished third with a time of 25:01.298.
In the Women’s race a few early attacks from Madison-Digicel set the pace, but it was Erica Hawley of Winner’s Edge who put the hammer down, forcing duo Kristen Palmer and Ashley Estwanik to chase. Bicycle Works were keen to keep the tempo high and saw a number of accelerations from Zoe Roberts.
With two laps to go, Palmer set up her team mate for an attack, but Estwanik was unable to drop the sprinters from her wheel. On the final lap, it was Hawley who attacked just before the final corner, but Bonnett stepped it up another gear with a sprint which took her across the line first clocking 25:57.816. Wenda Roberts sprinted to an impressive second place with a time of 25:58.230 and Hawley rounding out the podium in third clocking 25:59.010.
The Women’s Novice race was won by Louise Wells with a time of 19:46.401, Sarah Haycock was second in 19:47.048 and Deanna Didyk was third in 20:03.092.
Caleb Ingham recorded a time of 22:01.051 on his way to winning the Junior A Division, Enshe-Nico Davis was second in 22:01.283 and Liam Flannery was third in 22:02.318.
Tommy Marshall won the Junior B Division with a time of 13:03.227, Manning Smith finished second in 14:42.890 and Megan Hands finished third clocking 14:47.602.
