Football: Dominican Republic Defeats Bermuda
Bermuda took on Dominican Republic in the second round of the CFU Caribbean Cup this evening [June 4] at the National Sports Centre, with the Dominican Republic defeating Bermuda by a score of 1-0.
Bermuda’s starting lineup for the match was Dale Eve, Jaylon Bather, Roger Lee, Kilian Elkinson, Tre Ming, Drewonde Bascome, Jonte Smith, Zeiko Lewis, Willie Clemons, Dante Leverock, Reggie Lambe, with Rai Simons coming on to replace Bascome in the second half.
The Dominican Republic took the lead in the first half with Jonathan Frias scoring, and the two teams went into the break with the Dominican Republic holding a 1-0 lead.
Both teams battled back and forth during the second half, however neither team found the back of the net again and the game ended with the Dominican Republic recording the 1- victory. The game has just concluded and we will post additional details and a photo gallery as able.
Whole lotta imports from that country down south. Almost drowned out the sparse Bermuda crowd.
We sang like crazy in the front row
Should have won easily. Some good individual performances, but didn’t come together as a team. Attacking threat was there but defensively very shoddy. The team need to have more spirit, but Dom Rep definitely were the weaker team. A bad result
Too bad you bie’s
Well, Mr. Bascome, what say you to this defeat???? A third world island has crushed the supposed “richer” country in the butt!!!!!
So………what’s next, Mr. Bascome??????
SMH….I remember when Antigua beat us in the 90s…even the Antigans were stunned that a country known for its cricket beat a footballing island…now its a country known for baseball beats us….wats next, a country known for ballet or square dancing? lololol
Did anyone take a census on the DR Residents of Bermuda.
