Aon Bermuda To Host Charity Cricket Match
Aon’s Annual Brokers Versus Underwriters Charity Cricket Match will take place this afternoon at the National Stadium.
This is the third time the event will take place and the charities chosen this year are The Bermuda Sloop Foundation for the Brokers and The Bermuda Cricket Board for the Underwriters teams, with a focus on the junior players.
“This year Aon wanted to focus their charity efforts from the cricket match on charities which promoted youth team work in the community, with that in mind it made perfect sense for us to choose these two charities” said Claire Salmon, joint organizer of the event.
“We are looking forward to another highly competitive match. This is the tie-break year as each side has won in the previous two years and taken home the highly coveted plaque!”
“My son Kamau has benefitted from each of these organisations, as both a young cricketer as well as sailing with the Sloop on two occasions. He has been involved in the BCB Youth cricket program since he was 7 years old and is now a member of the Senior National Team. My son also enjoyed the Sloop experience immensely and learned life skills and teamwork that still benefit him today” said Duan Leverock, Aon Professional Lines broker and joint organizer of the event.
Each team is made up of a mixture of companies, the only event on the island where business rivals work together to form two clear sides. Participating companies include Aon, Marsh, Willis, JLT and Freisenbruch-Meyer for the Brokers with re/insurers including Chubb, Axis Capital, Hiscox, AIG, Renaissance Re, Allianz, Endurance and Validus Re for the Underwriters team.
The match is being umpired by Alex Knight and Oscar Andrade who have kindly donated their time to this event.
