Court: Man Admits Refusing To Leave & Threat

July 18, 2016

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [July 18], a 27-year-old man admitted failing to leave a premise after he had been requested to do so and using threatening words.

Alex McDonough pleaded not guilty to assaulting police; but admitted failing to leave a premise after he had been requested to do so, and using threatening words.

The Crown offered no evidence on the first charge and Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined McDonough $100 for failing to leave the premises and $300 for threatening the police.

The Magistrate asked McDonough if he had anything to say and McDonough replied that he couldn’t remember much about that night, but did recall Police spraying him with Captor spray.

The Crown Prosecutor told the Magistrate that McDonough’s arrest and overnight detention came after he had been asked to leave Spanish Point Boat Club, where he was moving about shirtless and shoeless.
