Deadline To Complete 2016 Census Online

July 2, 2016

The Department of Statistics is advising the public that the last day to provide census data via the convenience of a laptop, tablet or computer is 13 July, 2016.

A spokesperson said, “As of late Friday afternoon [July 1], 37.3% of assessment numbers have been accounted for and the feedback has been positive. Not only is this the quickest and most convenient method, it provides considerable cost and time savings by reducing the number of calls and in-person visits to households.

“The Department wishes to thank those households who have already submitted their information and encourage those who have not yet responded to do so by 13 July.

“The web-based application is secure and easy to use. People can log on using the password found in a letter sent by the Department of Statistics to all households in Bermuda. If a password has not been received call 297 7761 or email statsupport1@gov.bm with the subject line ‘e-Census Password request’ including: full name, home address, assessment number [if known]

“This email must be received by 12 July at noon to guarantee a response in time to complete the e-Census. Households who have not received a password, require assistance or wish to complete their questionnaire over the phone are asked to call the e-Census Helpline. The Helpline details are as follows:

  • 1. e-Census Helpline: 297-7761 – option 1
  • 2. Weekday Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • 3. Weekend Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“For those who do not have access to a computer with internet access, we have computers available to the public at the Department of Statistics, CedarPark Centre, 3rd Floor, 48 Cedar Avenue, Hamilton between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm for the purpose of completing the census. Assistance will also be available.

“By law, every household must complete the census questionnaire so that the Department of Statistics can produce a demographic, social and economic profile of Bermuda.”

To begin your questionnaire, go to census.bm.

Perhaps if folks were enlightened to the benefits of carrying out a census the Government would have a better response. If you issue deadlines and pen alties, then your general population may respond with apprehension and info rmation that is not so clear and may even be misleading.

Still haven’t received anything in my mailbox. Yes, I know I can go online and probably will if I don’t receive anything next week and i remember to do so but if you want full compliance, make it easier for people.
