Trey Mallory Upsets #4 Seed At Tournament
The U16 Bermuda team is competing in the Junior International Tennis Championships for Central America and the Caribbean in El Salvador, with Bermuda’s Trey Mallory upsetting the number four seed.
Mallory earned the victory against Kevin Yarzagaray of Aruba in 7-5 and 6-1 sets.
Coach Steve Bean said, “Bermuda’s future is in very capable hands with youngster Trey Mallory. His match today was a true indication of his willingness to listen to coaching and carry out instructions. Also he learns from each match and makes adjustments for next matches.
“He played at a very high level and sustained it throughout the match and was victorious over the # 4 seed in straight sets. Trey produces powerful shots with the greatest of ease, handles pressure well and works hard during matches. He hits his strokes as well as anyone I’ve seen in the region.
“His move up to the next level is based on decision making and those lessons will continue to be learned as he competes against players with different styles and abilities. It’s a pleasure to be a part of his development.”
Well done Trey! Keep up the good work!
