AIMA Network Announce Executive Committee

The Bermuda network of the Alternative Investment Management Association [AIMA] announced its newly formed Executive Committee.

Appointed Chair, and KPMG Managing Director, Craig Bridgewater said,“We are delighted to confirm that following a soft launch in March, the local AIMA network has established an Executive Committee to oversee the aims and objectives of the Association in Bermuda.

“In keeping with the goals and objectives of the international organisation, the Committee will oversee the development of our education and research component, as well as spearhead our legal and regulatory initiatives, membership engagement and media relations in Bermuda.”

“It is our intention that the Committee be as representative of the broadest asset management community as possible. To this end, we have welcomed members from accounting, legal and banking sectors, together with fund management and administration professionals.

“Joining the Committee are: Michael Burns [Harneys], Elizabeth Cava [Deloitte], Mathew Charleson [Kane LPI], Elizabeth Denman [Conyers Dill &Pearman], Peter Hughes [Apex], Laura Knox-Clingerman [Harbour], Danielle Paynter [HSBC], Sally Penrose [Appleby], Sean Smith [PwC], Katharine Summerley [Orbis], Helen Thornton [Nephila], Ben Wright [EY] and Michael Veale [Butterfield Bank].”

Commenting on the new network AIMA CEO Jack Inglis said, “I am delighted by the formation of the Executive Committee in Bermuda to lead our activities there. We have had members on the island for many years and this structure strengthens our presence and affirms Bermuda as a high calibre jurisdiction for the alternative funds industry.

“We hope by this to serve our local member better through education, networking and other industry engagement activities as well as attract even more members and contributions from stakeholders, further enhancing the Bermuda’s international reputation.”

“As a global organisation, AIMA seeks to provide an interactive and professional forum for its membership, and to act as a catalyst and promoter of the industry’s global development. It also serves to provide leadership to the industry and aims to be its pre-eminent voice for the development of sound practices and industry transparency.”

Mr. Bridgewater noted that the Committee is already working on a number of events, the first of which will be a Breakfast Briefing on trending topics, to be held Friday, September 16th at the Hamilton Princess.

The Committee will be reaching out to industry over the coming months to advise them of their various initiatives.
