August 24, 2016

The Government provided an update on works taking place at the Cabinet Office building, which are expected to be completed early next year.

A Cabinet Office spokesperson said, “The public will be aware that since June the Cabinet Office has been temporarily closed in order for the building to undergo extensive repair works to satisfy health and safety requirements.

“The public was advised that Premier Michael Dunkley and Cabinet Office staff relocated to Innovation House, 46 Reid Street, Hamilton.

“Since June, works including asbestos abatement, mold removal, window replacement, roof repair and plumbing and electrical upgrades have been undertaken. Costs for the works have been allocated and budgeted for under the Ministry of Public Works.

“It should be noted that renovations to the Cabinet Office have been proposed since 2004. As a reminder, members of the public wishing to contact the Cabinet Office can call 292-5501.”
